Has Sweet Carolina been on your mind? If so, then South Carolina may be your ideal vacation destination. Both South Carolina and North Carolina form the region in the Southeastern U.S. known as "Carolina". The beaches of both states have been filmed in countless movies, written about in numerous books, and sought after by millions of tourists.
South Carolina not only has the sweet southern accent of the natives, but miles of beaches, dozens of souvenir shops, and a few casinos in between. Gambling in the South? That’‘s right- Myrtle Beach, specifically, has been called the Vegas-by-the-sea. If this vacation is family-themed and heavy crowds, nickel slots, and what’‘s known as the "Grand Strand", which is 60 miles of beach-front property, are not desired for your vacation, do not despair. Congaree National Park offers canoing, hiking, and peaceful serenity. Owl walks are also possible on slightly cooler summer nights. Little River and Edisto Island are also pleasant vacation spots, perfect for fishing under moss-covered trees, watching dolphins, and saying goodbye to the sun for the day.
Hilton Head Island is also a South Carolina vacation hot spot, albeit a bit of a luxurious one. Hilton Head is a ritzy and absolutely beautiful island in the Atlantic Ocean. These beaches are famous, along with the golf courses that overlook the ocean. If you find yourself driving near Hilton Head but not staying there, do stop and admire the million dollar yachts, the Disney Resort Beach Club, and the view.
The official language in South Carolina is English with a unique southern accent. The official currency is the US Dollar, and the unofficial drink is sweet tea, or a beach-side daiquiri.
