Once you decide to spend your vacation in Puerto Rico, you may want to begin in San Juan, the capital and largest city of Puerto Rico. San Juan boasts one of the best harbors in the Caribbean, and also one of the busiest. While visiting San Juan you should also visit Old San Juan, the historic core of the city. If you are trying to escape the hustle and bustle of the city life, then Puerto Rico can provide other destinations for your vacation, such as the Caribbean National Forest and El Yunque Rainforest. Luquillo has a wonderful public beach, along with coral reefs for the snorkelers and scuba divers. Puerto Rico offers a wide variety of activities, such as surfing, golfing, horseback riding, and fishing, just to name a few.
When planning your Puerto Rico vacation keep in mind the official hurricane season (May through November) even though they rarely affect the island.
Peak tourist season is between December and April, and the climate is a mild tropical one. The official languages are Spanish and English, and the official currency is the US Dollar. The unofficial drink is the pina colada, which was born in Puerto Rico. When eating in Puerto Rico, make room for the plantains and pork, and leave room for some fresh seafood and possibly more plantains. Look for roadside food stands and don’‘t forget to drink your rum out of a coconut while you’‘re there!
