When imagining your ideal Hawaiian vacation, the island of Maui should be certainly be a part of that image. Maui is the second-largest of the Hawaiian Islands and second in popularity to Hawaii itself. Maui was formed from two shield volcanoes, giving it the shape of the number '8' on its side and allowing the island to have an immense variety of landscapes. The climate in Maui is characterized by a two-season year, with temperatures depending greatly on several different factors, such as elevation, coast proximity, and the wind patterns. Summer is the warmest season and when widespread rainstorms are rare. Maui offers vacationers a variety of activities. Snorkel and scuba dive at Molokini or Black Rock. You can watch humpback whales off the coast from December to March. Mountain bike or hike Haleahala National Park and watch the sunrise. If you are up for a drive, rent a Jeep and take the 'road to Han', which runs from Maui's north coast to the village of Hana on the eastern shore. The road to Hana may only be 56 miles long, but the drive will take you three-hours one-way. When vacationing in Maui, take your time. The only unfortunate experience you will have on your Maui vacation will be not allowing yourself enough time to truly experience all Maui has to offer.
