Gutentaug! Is it Oktoberfest already?
Even if it’‘s not, Germany should be your next vacation destination, and it doesn’‘t matter what time of the year you plan it because Germany is perfect all year round.
If you are an outdoors person, then May through September will be splendid, with beer gardens and cafes (and Oktoberfest). Of course, you are not the only person vacationing in Germany during these months, so do your research and book early.
Germany is a founding member of the European Union and has the largest population among the EU member states (82 million). Germany boasts a variety of landscapes, thanks to its size and location. Depending on what activities you would like to include in your vacation, and what time of year you plan to travel, Germany can offer something for everyone. Hiking, skiing, biking, swimming, shopping, and eating are all highly recommended activities to do on your German vacation. Driving the Autobahn may not be for everyone (81 mph is recommended) but you can at least be a passenger (wear your seat belt).
Think of Germany as an all-in-one package- there are forests (Bavarian Forests National Park), mountains, parks, historical sights (Semperoper Opera House), museums (Jewish Museum), beaches, castles (Potsdam Sanssoucci Castle), bustling cities, and festivals (Oktoberfest). You can bring the whole family or just yourself and you are certain to find something to do, see, enjoy, etc.
The capital city is Berlin and the official language is Germany. The official currency is the Euro and you will spend it on the time of your life.
The German’‘s consider their beer the best in the world, so that must be their unofficial drink. Cider is also very popular and is served in a special jug called "Bembel". Coffee is also served, and don’‘t be surprised if you see a Starbucks on your travels. You will also see signs that read "Schnellimbiss"- this means quick snack, and you will need lots of them if you plan on doing everything there is to do in Germany. No matter where you are always be aware of your surroundings. And have fun on your vacation!
