Some say that time is felt differently in Colorado. Perhaps it is the elevation, or the landscape, or just the people. Either way, if you are looking for a perfect escape then Colorado is your ideal vacation destination. Colorado is split from north to south by the Rocky Mountains. To the east-wide open prairies. To the west- rugged snow-capped mountains. The capital of Colorado, and where you will most likely fly into and out of, is Denver, also known as the Mile High City. Denver is the most populated part of Colorado, with a population of nearly 3 million people. If you are looking for a metropolitan hot spot instead of an isolated retreat then Denver is your destination. There are festivals in every month of the calendar year in Denver, with the most festivals being in the summer months. This city is teaming with museums (Denver Museum of Nature and Science), parks (Waterwork, Six Flags Elitch Gardens), restaurants (Blue Bonnet, Casa Bonita, Illegal Pete’‘s), and shops. Colorado also has a lot of sports teams, most of which reside in Denver (Broncos for football, Nuggets for ice hockey). In between shopping, eating, sightseeing and sports watching, maybe you can go for a climb up on of the 54 mountains with an elevation above 14,000 feet. If you have time after climbing, white water rafting could be your next activity, and then perhaps some skiing. And this is just Denver- the whole state of Colorado is still left to explore. There’‘s so much to do- Boulder! Pick the time and go do it! While Colorado is known to be a bit cold in the winter, this wondrous state can certainly be enjoyed year-round. The four seasons are very pronounced in Colorado, making your vacation that much more memorable. March seems to see the most snowfall. Summer begins around mid-June, although snow has been known to fall as late as June 12. Then again, temperatures have gotten as high as 100 degrees on June 14, so you never really know what you will get. Vacationers should plan their trip to Colorado according to anticipated activities and weather reports. The official state fish is the greenback cutthroat trout. The official currency is the US Dollar. The unofficial drink is beer- Colorado is considered the micro-brew capital of the U.S.. Regardless of where you go and what you do, be sure to pay attention to your surroundings and stay safe. Also, have a wonderful vacation!
