The Bahamas are an extensive chain of 700 islands and 2500 cays in the North Atlantic Ocean. Thirty of the Bahamas’‘ islands are inhabited and they are just waiting for you to begin your vacation on one of them. The larger islands of the Bahamas are Grand Bahama, New Providence Island, and Paradise Island (home of the Atlantis resort). Regardless of where you go in the Bahamas, however, you are sure to have a fantastic memorable vacation.
The Bahamas seem to have invented the perfect vacation for tourists worldwide, specifically U.S. Travelers. Year-round enjoyment is guaranteed, with constant breezes fanning your face as you do whatever you want- scuba diving, snorkeling, or sitting on the beach all day long. If traveling to the southern isles, the summers can be hot. Also, pay attention to hurricane season (May to November). Other than that, there’‘s not a lot more to worry about. The Bahamas are that easy- little rain, few mosquitoes, clear calm water, and conveniences for tourists, such as restaurants, bars and shops. The biggest festival in the Bahamas is Junkanoo, which is held on December 26 and January 1. This is a Bahamian street carnival that has fantastic costumes and Junkaroo music (think loud brass, bells and drums).
The official languages in the Bahamas are English and Haitian Creole. The official currency is the Bahamian Dollar. Rum is the unofficial drink, and Goombay Punch is the local soda.
Come to the Bahamas and experience the definition of vacation.
