Antigua and Barbuda are two islands in the Caribbean that lie east-southwest of Puerto Rico. The climate in Antigua and Barbuda is tropical marine and they do occasionally experience hurricanes, so be aware of the season you would like to vacation to these islands. The best time to vacation in Antigua and Barbuda is during the cool, dry months of December through April. Of course this period is also peak tourist season so be prepared for crowds.
The capital of Antigua is St. John’‘s, and gambling and shopping are just a couple of things to do in this town. If you do find yourself in St. John’‘s in July, be sure to see the Carnival. You can also play a game or two of cricket, should you tire of the beach/ocean activities. There are clubs, bars and restaurants, along with spas to help you relax after you have worn yourself out on your vacation.
The official language of Antigua and Barbuda is English, and the official currency is the East Caribbean Dollar. The unofficial drink is rum, along with other favorites like mauby and seamoss The unofficial dish is fungie (pronounced foon-gee).
